Comparison of CPF Home Protection Scheme and Private Mortgage Insurance

When you purchase a property and take a loan, you are required to have a mortgage insurance in place. While it may not be compulsory for a bank loan, it is strongly encourage as the joint owner or the beneficiary of the property will have to bear the remaining loan if death occurs and there is no mortgage insurance in place. CPF Home Protection Scheme is allowed only for HDB flats.
